CLASSICAL LOTUS CHATRI

The design for this pendant was purely serendipitous. The craftsmen instead of embossing the interior of a bowl, that was intended to be a basin embossed the exterior. The bowl turned over on its rim reminded us of chatris found above Hindu and Jain deities in temples as well as homes.
Cobalt Designs added elements to it to make it into a dramatic lightshade, that can be either the centre piece of any room or perfect to highlight the deity in a house’s pooja room.
This lamp has been featured in the book ‘Sar :The Essence of Indian Design’ by Swapnaa Tamhane and Rashmi Varma published by Phaidon in 2016.
