EXILE: THORN APPLE

This light installation examine the harsh reality of exile. This acacia fencing inspired design is a symbol of the challenge to build resilience, strive for success and build new homes for migrants. The installation takes the episode of Lord Rama’s banishment from Ayodhya for fourteen years and ultimate homecoming as a starting point. The form inspiration comes from acacia fencing around fields in India to keep cattle away from foraging.
This luminary was also acquired by the Manchester Art Gallery and was part of the ‘South Asian Design’ show that ran from May 2017-June2018.
